2016 Greene County Relay for Life logo pic 2A new contest is included in this year’s Greene County Relay for Life.

The entertainment committee has created a purple glove dance video contest. Participants are encouraged to make a short video of themselves dancing to popular music while wearing purple gloves. The color purple represents awareness for types of cancer. Committee Chair Jean Van Gilder says the contest is meant to make people have fun dancing to music while raising money for the American Cancer Society.

Contestants must post their videos to the Relay for Life of Greene County, Iowa Facebook page before April 20th. The top three videos that get the most “likes” will be played throughout the day on April 23rd, during the main event at the Greene County Community Center. The public can then “vote” on their favorite by donating money into the respective jar. The video that raises the most money will be declared the “best purple glove dance.”

The main event will be from 9:30am to 2:30pm on Saturday, April 23rd.
