It’s planting season in Iowa and farmers all over are starting to get their crops in the fields.

This also means motorists will be encountering more large machinery on area roads and Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn urges extra caution.

“Be aware of those slow moving vehicles moving about.  A lot of those farmers put in a lot of late hours so be careful and be cautious late at night and be aware of those large vehicles. They do their best to move over and allow you to pass but please don’t pass until it’s safe to do so.  Don’t pass in a no passing zone, it’s just not safe to do.  Take a little bit of extra time to clear that no passing zone before you scoot around.”

Vaughn says it’s also important to use common sense and patience any time you’re behind the wheel.
