The annual Greene County High School Coed Ram Relays will be held tomorrow starting at 5 p.m. in Jefferson at Linduska Field. Boys teams in addition to the Rams include Boone, Carroll, East Sac County, Guthrie Center, Kuemper Catholic, Perry, and Saydel (Des Moines). On the girls’ side, the Rams are joined by ADM, Boone, Carroll, East Sac County, Kuemper Catholic, and Perry.

Greene County’s head coaches are Kelly Simpson for girls and Dean Lansman for boys. Both coaches saw their teams make progress last week, but both also know the Rams will see some very good competition at Monday’s meet. “Every team in the field has their strength areas, and a couple of teams are really strong up and down the lineup. Fans should see some very good track and field,” said Coach Lansman, who is also the Greene County Activities Director.

The Drake Relays qualification deadline for high school athletes is this Thursday, April 21, which places even more importance on quality performances. So far for Greene County, only sophomore high jumper Megan Durbin is securely in the Drake field of 24 high school female jumpers. Durbin has gone 5′ 4″ this season, which is one of the top heights cleared so far this season. There are still a couple of other events for the Rams that have a chance at Drake qualification, but time is getting short.
