Waste from more than 2,000 disposable plastic bottles have been saved in the last three weeks thanks to a new water fountain at the McCreary Community Building in Perry.

Late last year the Perry Parks and Recreation Department started a crowd funding campaign on GoFundMe.com.  They asked local residents to help financially support their efforts to install a water bottle filling station at the recreation center.

Director John Anderson says the goal of the project was to reduce their carbon footprint and provide an easy way for building users to fill their own water bottles.

The department thanks everyone who donated to the project.
