2016 Greene County Relay for Life logo pic 2We are just a couple days away from the 20th Annual Greene County Relay for Life.

Participants will be able to enjoy lots of entertainment throughout the day on Saturday. Entertainment Co-Chair Jean Van Gilder says one of several contests will start the day at 9:30am with teams walking around the indoor track at the Greene County Community Center.

“We will be giving out beads as you walk a lap, you’ll get a set of beads. We’re are having a little contest to keep people walking. You don’t have to walk the entire time, but to see who can collect the most beads and that sort of thing. That will start right away at the beginning of the day, there will be someone on the track (to give the beads).”

Other entertainment includes performances from the Rhythm Room Dancers and Prairie Blue Creative Arts, along with the Town and Country Band. Van Gilder notes that this year they have included a performance from the Greene County High School jazz band and a new group of singers.

“We also have the initial performance from the Greene County Singers. They are going to open the program at 11am with America The Beautiful is the song they are singing and then they are also going to sing during the luminaria ceremony at the end of relay.”

Attendees can also vote on their favorite “purple glove dance” which will be shown throughout the day.

The main event will be from 9:30am to 2:30pm on Saturday.
