A sunny day brought over 300 people to the 20th Annual Greene County Relay for Life event Saturday.

Organizer Peg Raney projects the total amount raised so far for the American Cancer Society is over $40,000. The sponsorships brought in $12,250 with another $5,025 in in-kind sponsorships. The silent auction raised a record $5,876. Raney expresses her gratitude for the amount of volunteers that have helped with the Relay event for the past 20 years.

“We appreciate all the people ahead of us that started ball rolling (20 years ago). A lot of those people still come and are involved in the Relay by walking on a team (or) contributing in a lot of different ways.”

About 125 people participated in the 3rd Annual Color Out Cancer 5K and there were several winners of different contests throughout the day.

Raney adds that the official total amount of money will be announced in August. A list of the winners can be found below:
