perry logoThis spring’s road resurfacing project in Perry will now be a summer project.

Public Works Director Jack Butler says Manatts Inc. got started on the project April 18th but now it won’t be completed for several months.

“They came in and they said we’re going to get started, and we were just tickled pink because we had potholes all over and the majority of the roads that we’re doing were full of potholes so it was going to save us some money and some time to be able to do some other things.  Well, they got started and they’ve got about 16 blocks, I think, all together done and now they’re pulling out.  So everything they’ve came through and milled they’re going to get put back together and they’ve got about one more day’s work of work on that and then they’re leaving.  They said it’s probably going to be mid to late July before they come back and finish the rest.”

In total, Perry’s $850,000 project includes resurfacing of 45 city blocks.  Butler says in the meantime the city crews will continue to work on filling potholes themselves until Manatts returns.
