With all the rain we’ve received this week, the grass is growing quickly but when you’re mowing your yard it’s important to pay attention to where those clippings go.
Perry Deputy Public Works Director Josh Wuebker says it is against city code to let those clippings get into the street.
“It plugs up the storm sewers and it just makes a mess and then it will back up into people’s driveways and yards so it is (not allowed) and you will be getting a ticket.”
The City Council recently appointed a new compliance officer, Jeff South from the public works department, and Wuebker says they’re really cracking down on various compliance issues to help make Perry look more appealing to both residents and visitors.
As a reminder, the new grass and weed ordinance says yards must be cut down to below eight inches by the first and third Wednesday or each month, otherwise the City will mow it and charge the property owner.
