Gilbert plays host to the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference Coed track and field meet today starting at 4 p.m. Greene County’s girls and boys are joined by the host school, as well as Collins-Maxwell-Baxter, Nevada, North Polk (Alleman), PCM (Monroe), Roland-Story (Story City), Saydel (Des Moines), and South Hamilton (Jewell).

The Greene County girls under the direction of head coach Kelly Simpson have three events ranked first in the conference and three more ranked second. Leading the conference and all of Iowa is Megan Durbin in the high jump at 5′ 8″. Durbin also is the HOIAC 100 meter dash leader at :13.00, and the Sprint medley relay is first at 1:56.97. Ranking second are Janelle Brophy in the long jump at 15′ 8-1/2″, Kenna Marquardt in the discus throw at 114′ 7″, and Olivia Hansen in the 400 meter dash in 1:03.50.

Coach Dean Lansman’s Greene County boys lead the HOIAC in two individual events. Max Neese is first in the 200 meter dash at :22.35 and Daric Whipple is first in the 400 meter low hurdles in :56.14. The 4 x 400 meter relay ranks second at 3:35.34.
