Greene County sophomore Elijah Block shot 79 for 18 holes and finished in sixth place to earn all-conference honors Tuesday at the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference boys’ golf tournament. The tournament was held at the TCI Course at Polk City. Coach Dave Destival reports the other three scores counting in the Rams’ team total were 93 from both Logan Nelson and Britton Gallagher, and 94 by Isaiah Yoder.
The Rams finished seventh among nine teams on a somewhat breezy day with high temperatures near 70. Gilbert won the team title with a score of 304, followed by Nevada 312, PCM (Monroe) 345, Roland-Story (Story City) and South Hamilton (Jewell) 349 with R-S taking the tie-breaker. Saydel (Des Moines) had 352 with the Rams at 359, North Polk (Alleman) 380, and CMB (Baxter) 438.
The HOIAC girls’ golf tournament is today at the Cedar Pointe Course at Boone with Greene County the host school.
