Greene County won four girls and four boys events on Tuesday in Gilbert at the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference track and field meet. That total was double what was expected based on season long performances leading up to the conference meet.

Conference champions for the Greene County girls are sophomore Megan Durbin, a three event winner, and junior Kenna Marquardt. Durbin won the high jump at 5′ 4″, the 100 meter dash in 13.20 seconds, and the 200 meter dash in :27.31. Marquardt won the discus throw at 113′ 8″.

The Greene County boys won the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3:33.10 with junior Nick Schroeder and seniors Ethan Woodruff, Daric Whipple, and Max Neese. Neese won two individuals events, the 100 meter dash in 11;09, and the 200 meter dash in 23.26. Whipple won the 400 meter low hurdles in 55.85 seconds.

Gilbert won the girls’ team title with 150.5 points and North Polk (Alleman) was second at 124.5. PCM (Monroe) had 107, followed by CMB (Baxter) 101, Greene County 77, Roland-Story (Story City) 60.5, Nevada 56, South Hamilton (Jewell) 33.5, and Saydel (Des Moines) 28.

NP was the boys’ winner with 116 points, just three ahead of Gilbert’s 113. R-S had 97 with Nevada at 90, CMB 69, Greene County 61, SH 60, PCM 58,  and 35 for Saydel.

The Rams close the regular season tomorrow at the North Polk Invitational at Alleman.
