The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday.
They approved a bid for Caliber Concrete, of Adair, to complete a parking lot project on the east side of the courthouse. The project will add four handicap parking spots, including one double spot for a van. Plus, a crosswalk will be added to the courthouse sidewalk from the stairs that come down from North 6th Street.
Caliber Concrete owner Jason Martin addressed a concern about the new spots restricting parking and maneuverability for Sheriff’s office vehicles, saying that’s not the case and the project may actually create an additional spot for law enforcement to park in.
Additionally, the Board voted unanimously to approve a $2,500 contract for Region XII Council of Governments to review the County’s zoning ordinance and create a zoning map. Deputy Assessor Nikki Carrick will check with Snyder & Associates Engineers & Planners to see if they can convert the map into an overlay in the County’s Geographical Information System (GIS) system.
