
Jefferson Matters: Main Street was recently recognized at the Main Street Iowa awards ceremony last month.
Program Director Peg Raney says they received special recognition for reaching their $3 million private investment benchmark and Chris Heisterkamp was named the local organization’s Volunteer of the Year for 2015.
Main Street Iowa is also celebrating their 30th anniversary as a statewide organization. Since 1986, local Main Street programs have made a major impact on Iowa’s economy with 13,000 new jobs, 11,000 new businesses and over $1.6 billion private dollars invested into local Main Street districts.
Representing JMMS were President Jamie Daubendiek, Secretary Carol Ahrenholtz, Board members Angie Reese-Hueser, Deb Kucerak, and Amy Roberts, Program Director Peg Raney, Jefferson City Council member Harry Ahrenholtz and volunteers Nick Sorensen, Susan Fray, Bill Raney and Tim Heisterkamp.
About 450 people attended the event on April 29th.
