Greene County High School band and choir recently competed in their large group contests over the weekend at Harlan High School.
Choir director David Heupel says his mixed choir earned a straight division I-rating and the girls choir received an overall division II-rating. He points out that his mixed choir groups have earned a I-rating 11 of the last 13 years during his 17-year career in Jefferson. The final trip of the school year is performing at the Worlds of Fun Festival in Kansas City, Missouri.
Band director Wes Anderson says the concert band received a division II-rating. The band has been rehearsing for the contest since early April and is happy with the results, but is excited to improve for next year. The band’s final performance for the school year will be during the Memorial Day ceremonies in Jefferson.
