Appearances at the State Track & Field Meet are nothing new for the Carey family of rural Churdan. Freshman Megan Carey adds her name to the list of family members who’ve competed on the State level. She qualified in Class 1A in the 400 meter dash in 1:01.35, good for second place at the State Qualifying Meet in Manson on Thursday. Her time puts her eighth fastest in the field of 24 entering the Thursday, May 19 race at 7 p.m. inside Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Carey’s brother, Jake, a 2015 P-C grad, ran last year and in ’14 at the State Meet, and other relatives over the years have also competed on the blue oval.
