Senior Awards Night was held in the Greene County High School auditorium Tuesday evening. In addition to scholarships and other honors, the top senior athletic awards for the 2015-16 school year were presented to Maxwell Neese, Nicole Rohner, and Daric Whipple.

Neese received the Bernie Saggau Award, named for the former Executive Secretary of the Iowa High School Athletic Association. The award goes to a senior who has demonstrated leadership skills, high morals, religious beliefs, is patriotic, and believes that games, like life, should be played by the rules. Neese is participating in four events at the State Coed Track & Field Meet this week, and has also earned all-district honors in football, and all-conference honors in basketball.

Rohner was named Female Ram of the Year. She participated in volleyball, basketball, and golf. The Ram golfers had one of the best regular seasons in some time, and she played mainly from the number three position. Rohner also was a volleyball and basketball regular.

Whipple earned all-state honors in football, all-district honors in baseball, and is a returning state meet place winner in track and field. He’ll be in three events this week at Drake Stadium for the Coed State Track & Field Meet. Whipple plans on playing football as a preferred walk-on at Iowa State University.
