There’s a lot going on at The New Homestead in Guthrie Center.

The facility has a new Executive Director, Mike Ewalt, and is hosting an open house to showcase their new independent living apartments this weekend.

Ewalt, who previously served as administrator of a skilled nursing and independent living community in his hometown of Webster, South Dakota, says the new facility was a major attraction to taking the job. “We’ve got those rooms to fill and I’m very excited about that. We’re having a grand opening on Sunday, May 22nd from 1-3 p.m. That’s one of our biggest things that we’re working on right now, and making sure we’re always ready for state surveyors to walk in and check us out and make sure we’re doing things correctly by their standards. We’re also working on beautification and putting in some new irrigation.”
