As we head deeper into the track and field postseason, throwers of the discus and shot put are getting used to a new competition order, says West Central Valley boys coach Tony Hooper. “They went to a carousel format for the throwers, which you always have to deal with at Drake and State, so they made the changes to reflect those formats. In most meets throughout the season, they can make their throws in any order they want, but at Districts and at State, they’re forced to do one through each time through the order.”

The state meet begins tomorrow at Drake Stadium.
