A Greene County student athlete won the standing long jump at the Iowa Special Olympics Track and Field competition earlier this month.
Co-coach Deb Rogers says Tosha Harvey defeated all of her competitors to earn first place in standing long jump. They also took three other students as they competed in four additional events. Ian Jensen received second place in standing long jump and third place for mini javelin, Kelly Martin earned second place for standing long jump and Nick Walsh took home second place for shot put.
There were 2,600 athletes, 1,200 coaches and 2,000 volunteers at the May 20th event. Athletes also enjoyed balloon hats, face-painting and several other activities while waiting to compete.
