Early Thursday morning storms triggered Severe Weather Action Team coverage and caused damage in Jefferson.
Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team sprang into action with live coverage within ten minutes of when the first severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service at 2:10am. The were two other warnings then issued and everything expired by 3:45am.
Storm spotters reported half dollar size hail in Minburn and pea-sized hail in Perry, along with strong winds of 50 to 60 miles per hour and heavy rainfall. Jefferson Public Works Director Dave Morlan says damage was done to a car by a falling tree branch in the 200 block of South Oak Street and damage to the roofs of two houses in the 700 block of South Maple Street.
We had four members of our Severe Weather Action Team in contact with local law enforcement, first responders, emergency management coordinators and WeatherEye staff.
