While the weather reeked havoc all around the Adel area, it was a picture perfect evening for softball action as the ADM Lady Tiger softball team took on the Perry Jayetts in an early Raccoon River Conference showdown last night.

Last night’s match up posted two powerhouse offenses and defenses against each other in a much anticipated match up. If were a fan of offense last night’s match up would not have been your cup of tee as both high scoring offenses were held in check for the most part as both offenses ended the game yielding their lest productive games of the season to this point. It was great pitching that stole the show for both the Jayetts and Lady Tigers with 19 combined strike outs on the night.

Emma Olejniczak put on a pitching clinic limiting a Lady Tiger team who hasn’t earned less than 4 hits in any game this season to just two on the night as she set down 10 ADM batters on strike outs. Despite giving up just those two hits, Olejniczak did so with runners on base thanks to three walks on the night and those two ADM hits found daylight, bringing home the two Tiger runs. Normally a sound defensive team, the Jayetts were uncharacteristic in the field giving up two costly errors that aided in those two ADM runs. The first error came in the bottom of the fourth as the Jayetts attempted a double play off a grounder to Perry short stop Diw but the relay throw to first was wild allowing Ashley Tennant to pick up second base. She would cross the plate on RBI single by the very next batter in Kila Carbine. It was also an uncharacteristic night for the Perry offense as the Jayetts couldn’t live up to their .330 average and 4 home runs on the year as Molly Jacobsen allowed just one Perry batter to earn a hit. That hit came courtesy of Maddie West who singled in the top of the 5th inning and stole second later in that half inning. That would be all for the Perry offense as they ended the game with just one hit.

For the ADM Tigers, Molly Jacobsen earned her 5th win on the season thanks to a 9 strike out performance against Perry. That now brings Jacobsen’s strike out total to 61 on the season through just 5 games. ADM’s offense was much quiter than the past four games managing only two hits on the night but that would be just enough as those two hits resulted in two runs batted in. Kila Carbine picked up her 6th RBI on the season thanks to a single in the bottom of the fourth that had eyes as it slid past West at first and Vancil at second scoring Ashley Tennant from second base. The Lady Tigers found their second RBI of the game thanks to a double to the gap in right center from Tennant to score Collins. ADM ended the game with just two hits earning two runs and no errors on their way to earning their 5th straight win.

With the loss the Perry Jayetts now sit 2-3 overall and 0-2 in Raccoon River Conference play while the Lady Tigers now improve to 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in Raccoon River Conference play. The Jayetts will be back in the friendly confinds of Perry as they welcome in conference opponent Carroll tonight. For the ADM Lady Tigers they will be back on the road tonight as they head to Boone which you can catch on K107.9 FM with pregame beginning at 7:00 followed by first pitch at 7:30.
