c56a74e5-1e06-42ce-a21e-d34b148d9ec3Saturday’s re-dedication ceremony for a 100 year-old Civil War memorial at a cemetery near Casey is being presented by two local organizations.

Casey Historical Society member Judy Wedemeyer says her organization and the Oakwood Cemetery Board have rallied the community around restoring the piece of history. “It’s been kind of a major undertaking, but this has sparked a lot of interest in the two committees, and in a small town like this you pretty much have to cooperate on a project of this size. We were able to work together to get this done, it’s something people can be proud of and hopefully it will be here for another 100 years.”

Everyone is invited to attend the rededication ceremony Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Oakwood Cemetery, southeast of Casey. Refreshments will be served following the event at the Casey Visitor’s Center.
