With the June primary coming up on Tuesday, Greene County voters will have to decide on who they want as the Republican candidate for Supervisor District Five seat.

Incumbent Guy Richardson is running for his fifth term as County Supervisor. He says his experience gives him the insight to continue his efforts as a Supervisor to continue to see the county grow. One of his top priorities, if elected to another four-year term, is continuing to work on housing.
“We need to do everything we can to be proactive to support housing initiatives. We’ve had a lot of companies either expand or come to Greene County in the recent past, and we need to encourage that to continue, and the fact that they need more people means that we have to have places for people to live.”
Challenger Peter Bardole says he’ll listen to everyone’s ideas and comments and work on issues with the other Supervisors if elected. He also sees housing as a priority, but believes that the current jobs aren’t allowing individuals to take advantage of available housing in the county.
“I’d like to see some manufacturing or businesses that pay a little higher wages and that would us in the next step, which is housing. There’s really quite a few houses for sale in Greene County, but are they really where the individuals that are working in the county need to be at (for prices).”
