The Perry baseball team picked up their first victory of the season last night defeating Carroll 15-4 in 5 innings in the Raccoon River Conference opener for the Bluejays. Perry scored at least 2 runs in every inning with the third inning providing the knockout punch as Perry sent 11 batters to the plate and scored 6 times. Janier Puente finished with 3 RBI’s including a 2-run homerun over the right field fence and a perfectly executed hit and run double into the corner in left field. Kyle Nevitt delivered twice in bases loaded situations as he finished with 3 RBI’s on the night. Alex Long picked up the win allowing just one hit over 4 innings while striking out 5. Kade Van Kirk pitched a scoreless 5th to end the game. Adan Medina reached base all three times and finished with 2 stolen bases.
Perry improves to 1-4 and 1-0 in conference play and will host Boone in a 7:15 game tonight at the PAC.
