The ADM boys soccer team took part in their 2nd straight state tournament appearance yesterday.

The Tigers would enter the tournament at 17-4 and being crowned the 4th seed and they would take on the 5th seed in Storm Lake. Storm Lake entered the state tournament after two shut outs to end their substate action and yielding class 2A’s best record at 17-1 and a class leading 96 goals on the season.

The Tigers and the Tornadoes battled in a very physical game which yielded a couple of fouls for both teams on the day. The first half ended in a 1-0 score with Storm Lake out on top, and they would add to that lead with 18:20 left in the match. The Tigers did manage to claw their way back and cut the deficit in half after Bryce Godwin notched a lengthy goal just passing the storm lake side of midfield in the 66th minute of action.

The Tiger rally would be stopped their however as the Tornadoes controlled the ball for much of the ladder part of the second half, and would take the win by the final score of 2-1. The Tigers weren’t the only top seed to fall early in the class 2A tournament as number one seed Bishop Heelan and number three seed Xavier exited the tournament with early losses.

With the loss the Tigers end the season at 17-5 overall placing third in the RRC and with the win Storm Lake advances to the second round of state action still yielding class 2A’s best record at 18-1 as they take on Wahlert.
