juliahelmTwo female Republicans are campaigning to win the party’s nomination for Dallas County auditor.

Julia Helm, who has worked in the auditor’s office for the past seven years, says there are two primary issues she feels need to be addressed.

“Number one, our growth and keeping our real estate records as accurate as possible.  With all the subdivisions coming through, we have a (Geographical Information Systems) person on staff that is helping us keep everything mapped correctly and (make sure) the addresses come in right.”

The other issue is something she’s close to after severing as the precinct election official coordinator for the county.
“We are growing at such a fast rate, we have to keep up with not only election workers, but polling locations.  We’re very residential and it’s getting harder and harder to actually find places to have the polls.  Also with elections will be absentee ballots.  We’re anticipating doing 25,000 to 30,000 absentee ballots in our county. So it’s basically running two elections.  One is absentee and also the polls.  We have to keep working on being accurate and working through the volume of ballots that we’ll be handling.”

Helm faces Cate Bryan in Tuesday’s primary.  You can find out more about her HERE.
