Iowans can test out their fishing skills at no charge this weekend.
June 3rd through 5th has been designated as Free Fishing Weekend, which means residents can fish without purchasing a license.
The Dallas County Conservation Board is hosting a Family Fishing Fun event Sunday and everyone is invited to attend. It takes place at the Glissman Conservation Area, southwest of Adel and Museum Curator Pete Malmberg says it’s a great chance to get out there and learn more about the sport.
“They will teach you how to fish there. A naturalist will be on hand to assist new anglers. It’s a great opportunity for an afternoon of outdoor family fun. There’s some very nice sunfish and bass and several other different types of fish in there. So it’s a lot of fun down there.”
Rods and reels will be available for attendees to borrow, along with bait and treats for the kids.
It happens from 4-6pm Sunday. Pre-registration is required for the free event to make sure they have enough supplies on hand. To reserve your spot call 465-3677.
