Voter turnout was light in today’s primary election in Dallas County.
According to the Secretary of State’s office, Julia Helm will represent the Republican party as the Auditor’s candidate in November and current Board of Supervisors Chairman Mark Hanson has successfully won the Republican nomination in his reelection campaign.
Helm defeated fellow Republican Cate Bryan and Hanson wins against challengers Douglas Beavers and Eric Rose.
Additionally, Dallas County Republicans chose David Young for the nominee for the 3rd District in the U.S. House of Representatives while Democrats picked Jim Mowrer and Patty Judge earned the majority of votes for the only other contested party race for U.S. Senator.
