The ADM Tiger softball team was in Raccoon River Conference action last night as they took on the 4th ranked team in class 4A Carlisle.

The Lady Tiger softball team had a shake up to their line up before the game as senior leader and pitching star Molly Jacobsen was unable to compete in the game due to illness. That put Kila Carbine on the mound, Abbey Hlas moved to first, and Lindsey Lang moved to short. All that seemed to cause an inauspicious start for the Lady Tigers who for the first time this season, were unable to bounce back from an early deficit.

The 4th ranked Wildcats made the most out of Jacobsen’s absence putting up 10 hits in the game. The Lady Tigers hindered their own cause racking up 6 total errors on the night after picking up just 6 errors through twelve games of work. The Lady Tigers saw their team shaken up at the plate as well totaling their lowest hit total of the season with just one hit on the night, accredited to Alexis Wyant in the ADM second inning.

The Wildcats made the most out of Jacobsen’s absence and a shaken ADM defense forcing two ADM errors and pushing across three runs in the first. ADM would muster their only hit of the game in the second as a quiet inning for both teams but as the bottom half of the third came around, the flood gates would open for Carlisle. The wildcats erupted for 5 runs in the third inning alone off of a couple ADM errors and a grand slam by Alyssa Brown followed by one more run to end the inning.

More errors would ensue throughout what turned out to be an abbreviated game as the Wildcats put up 4 more runs in the next half inning giving the Lady Tigers no shot at the comeback and ending the game 12-0 in four innings. Kila Carbine would be accredited with the loss. She would be charged with just 6 earned runs on the night, giving up 10 hits and striking out two. Gabby Schnathorst would pick up the win for Carlisle giving up just one hit and striking out four while going 3-3 at the plate with three runs batted in on the night.

With the win the Wildcats improve to 10-5 as they square off in another top 5 class 4A match up against Winterset. With the loss the Tigers now fall to 12-1 and will look to bounce back tonight at home against former RRC opponent Dallas Center-Grimes. You can catch that game on K107.9 FM with first pitch slated for 7:30 pm.
