Wednesday, June 8th
Dispatchers at the Greene County Sheriff’s Office received several calls about a white Jeep driving erratic and dangerously in the southern part of the county. A deputy was advised that the Jeep was now northbound on Highway 144, north of Rippey. Three members of the Sheriff’s office responded and a deputy stopped the vehicle on Highway 144 a mile south of Grand Junction. After an evaluation and Field Sobriety testing the deputy subsequently arrested Justin Ray Lopez 18, of Jefferson, for Driving While under the Influence – 1 st Offense and Speeding – 10 over.
A deputy was dispatched to the 500 block of State Street in Scranton to investigate a reported loud noise like a gunshot. The source of the noise was not determined at that time.
A deputy received several reports of some type of homemade go-cart operating on a vacant lot in the 200 block of North 16th Street in Grand Junction.
A deputy, and Iowa State Patrol Officer, Jefferson Fire Department and Greene County Emergency Medical Services personnel were dispatched for a vehicle that had driven into the ditch on Highway 30, just west of J Avenue. The driver was reported to be experiencing a medical condition and was transported to the Greene County Medical Center.
A deputy was dispatched to Grand Junction to check the welfare of a male subject that was reported to be in a confused state, while walking westbound on Hager Street. The male subject was not located.
A deputy was advised by a resident in the 400 block of R Avenue of receiving a mail scam involving a company wanting payment for services that were never asked for by the resident.
A deputy was dispatched to the 600 block of Harding Road in Churdan for a personal property civil dispute.
Greene County Dispatchers were advised of a power pole that was sparking and burning in the 1000 block of 240th Street. Midland Power, the Jefferson Fire Department, an Iowa State Patrol Officer and a deputy all responded.
Thursday, June 9th
A deputy was dispatched to the Rolling Hills Bank in Rippey after the alarm company advised that a motion sensing alarm was activated. A key holder and the deputy determined the building to be secure.
In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
