As we’ve reported, Jack E. Lloyd was the winner of a three-way race Tuesday night for the Republican nomination to run for Guthrie County’s First District Supervisor seat against Democratic incumbent Jerry Caraher, in November.
Lloyd is happy to win and the longtime Bayard mayor says the local election process is nothing new to him. “This was my tenth election I’ve been through and they’re all about the same — you’re worried all the time. I’ve got to thank my family and friends for helping me get through it.”
Lloyd is now beginning to focus his attention on the general election in November — a race he admits won’t be an easy one to win. “It’s going to be brutal. Jerry (Caraher) has been in that seat nearly 30 years and it’s hard to get an incumbent out, I do know that.”
Lloyd received 47 of the 102 votes cast in Tuesday’s Primary.
