The Perry Area Food Pantry is nicely stocked after receiving two large donations.

Local postal workers collected more than 1,800 pounds of food donated by area residents recently and St. Patrick’s Church and School separately brought in another 600 pounds of donations.

Food Pantry Board Member and volunteer Lou Hoger says the donations were enough to overfill six large grocery carts.  He thanks the postal carriers who picked up the donations and everyone who contributed.

Hoger says these donations help keep the shelves stocked with many items for several months, which reduces the list of things they must order from the Food Bank of Iowa or purchase locally.

Anyone needing the services of the Food Pantry is encouraged call New Opportunities at 465-5185.
