Jefferson MattersJefferson Matters: Main Street invites everyone to check out their activities during the Bell Tower Festival.

Program Director Peg Raney says people can vote on their favorite sculptures for their Ring Out for Art contest. The sculptures are now on display on the north side of the courthouse. The top prize is $2,000, second place receives $1,000 and third place is $500. The cash prizes are donated by Home State Bank. The winners will be announced at 4:50pm on Saturday.

Raney also encourages everyone to fill out their survey questions for a new event that will be happening this fall called “Family Feud: Jefferson Edition”. You can write down your favorite memories of the Mahanay Bell Tower to be included in a community-wide poem.

“We hope to find the grove within inputs that people share with us here at the Mahanay Tower project. I believe there is one amongst the community about insights, memories (and) moments about the Mahanay Tower. And that we tread together and that’s how it works.”

That’s former Jefferson resident David Williamson, who is responsible for putting together everyone’s memories and comments into a cohesive community poem that will be unveiled later this fall.

Raney adds that they will also have special buttons that say ‘I heart Jefferson’ and she explains how someone can receive one.

“The only way that somebody can get one of those buttons is to participate in a Main Street event. Coming to our booth and voting, and writing a memory (of the Bell Tower) or answering some questions with the Family Feud, they’ll get one of those buttons.”

Raney encourages everyone to stop by their booth on the north side of the courthouse during Bell Tower Festival weekend. Check out all of the sculpture entries by clicking the photos below.
