Greene County was a 4-1 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball winner over Roland-Story (Story City) in Jefferson on Friday night. The win stopped a four game losing streak and the Rams improved to 7-6 overall and 4-4 in the conference. R-S fell to 4-8 overall.
Hannah Promes was the winning pitcher and she threw the ball well over seven innings allowing one earned run on five hits. She struck out two batters, hit one with a pitch, and did not walk anyone. The Rams had one error to three for R-S, and both teams left six runners on base.
Greene County totaled six hits including three triples. Carleigh Paup, Sydney Koch, and Megan Durbin all tripled. Koch drove in two runs with one RBI by Hannah Promes on a fielder’s choice. Promes, Megan Carey, and Durbin added singles.
The Rams are on the road in Monroe Monday vs. PCM.
