Roland-Story threw its top pitcher, senior Tyler Hovick, all seven innings in Jefferson on Friday night and the Norsemen defeated Greene County by a 5-2 score. The Rams fall to 3-7 overall and 1-6 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference while R-S improved to 12-3 and 4-2. The game was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

Coach Mark Sawhill used three seniors on the pitching mound with starter Tyler Beger taking the loss. Reid Lamoureux pitch to nine batters, and Branden Miller threw the last 2-1/3 and did not allow a run. All five runs were charged to Beger, and  four were earned.

Greene County was out hit eight to three. Tom Gannon had a first inning single, the lone hit for the Rams until there were two outs and no one on the fourth. Sophomore Wade Adcock doubled and freshman Austin Delp followed with a run scoring single on an 0-2 pitch.The other run for the Rams came in the fifth and was not earned.

R-S scored single runs in the second and third, and three runs scored in the fourth.

Coach Sawhill’s Rams are in Prairie City Monday night to face PCM.
