The week ahead appears to be challenging for both the Greene County High School baseball and softball teams. The Rams start the week with the longest road trips of the season to PCM on Monday, and both end with Saturday tournaments.

In softball, it’s Greene County vs. PCM in Monroe as the Rams go for a season sweep of the Mustangs after opening the season late last month with a 5-4 win in Jefferson. Tuesday on KG98, it’s the number one ranked team in Class 4A, the ADM Tigers, visiting the Rams in Jefferson. Friday, Coach Tom Kennedy’s team will go to Collins to face CMB, the leaders in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. CMB had a big seventh inning to win over the Rams in Jefferson in the first meeting. Saturday, it’s on to State Center for the West Marshall Tournament.

The baseball Rams play in Prairie City Monday vs. PCM. Coach Mark Sawhill’s team hosts non-conference opponent Bondurant-Farrar on Thursday on KG98, then it’s off to Collins on Friday vs. CMB. Greene County plays in the Perry Tournament on Saturday.

Greene County enters the week with a 7-6 record in softball and a 3-7 mark in baseball.
