Hundreds of people enjoyed another successful Bell Tower Festival this weekend in Jefferson.
Despite the warm temperatures, Greene County Chamber Tourism and Events Coordinator Angie Pedersen was impressed with the amount of people that attended the 37th annual event.
“There’s been so many people having so much fun. The square’s been mobbed, it’s been hot, but I mean the Bell Tower Festival is a tradition that’s been going on for 37 years now and we know the weather’s going to play into it, but at least it’s dry.”
She points out that the parade is a major highlight every year for the festival.
“The parade was outstanding this year. I don’t know, there’s something about the Bell Tower parade that instantly makes me about eight years-old. It’s just a really, really good time and everybody is happy (and) it makes you happy. I love the parade.”
Parade entry winners include Home State Bank for the commercial division, the Jefferson Public Library won the non-commercial division and Greene County Extension and 4-H won the theme division in the parade.
Other results include Tim Adams from Webster City was the inaugural winners by people’s choice for the Jefferson Matters: Main Street Ring Out for Art contest, One Year Older won the three-on-three basketball tournament (Keith Van Beck, Scott Weber, Keith Peterson and Chris Nelson) and Austin Forkner and Cory Downs won the bags tournament.
