Friday, June 10th
A deputy, while on routine patrol, investigated a vehicle that was parked at the Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction. It was determined that the manager of Casey’s was aware of the vehicle being parked there.
A deputy witnessed a vehicle driving erratically on Highway 144 and followed that driver into Paton. The driver was witnessed to be driving on the wrong side of a two way street and subsequently stopped. After an initial investigation and the driver’s refusal to perform field sobriety for the deputy, Timothy James Lee 38, of Paton, was arrested and taken into custody for Operating While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense, Open Container and Driving on the Wrong Side of a Two Way Highway.
A deputy was advised of the possible theft of a ladder from a rural residence in the 2600 block of 260th Street.
A deputy spoke with a Rippey resident about her identity being compromised and a credit card account being opened without her knowledge.
A deputy was dispatched to the 2200 block of R Avenue for a residential alarm activation. The building site was found to be secure.
A deputy spoke with a Churdan resident about a male subject that keeps calling and trying to set up a Pay Pal account in her name. She did not comply with the scam involving the exchange of funds through the account.
Members of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Jefferson Police Department with a search warrant in Jefferson.
A deputy was dispatched to Scranton for a reported semi-tractor trailer that was parked in the 700 block of State Street for more than the two hour allotted time. The semi had been moved to the Landus Cooperative parking area.
A deputy was dispatched to the 300 block of North 17th Street in Grand Junction for a noise concern.
A deputy was dispatched to the 500 block of High Street in Scranton to collect some prescription medications that were set on the curb for trash pickup. The discarded medications were brought to the LEC to be disposed of during the annual drug take back initiative. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office will take discarded medications any time of the year at the Law Enforcement Center in Jefferson.
A deputy was asked to check a vehicle that was pulled of the roadway on Highway 4 near 160th Street. The deputy determined the occupants of the SUV were storm spotters and were taking pictures of the storm clouds to the north.
Saturday, June 11th
A deputy was dispatched to the 700 block of W Avenue to try and locate a reported suspicious vehicle. The described truck was not located at that time.
A deputy and a Jefferson Police Officer were not able to locate a reported erratic and careless driver westbound on Highway 30 from Grand Junction.
A deputy was dispatched to the 900 block of Main Street in Grand Junction to help mediate a verbal altercation between two adult males involving a civil issue over the ownership of a vehicle.
Sunday, June 12th
A deputy was advised of an abandoned vehicle near the gravel pits( Blacks Pits) west of Jefferson.
A deputy was asked to check the welfare of a juvenile female in the 500 block of South Wise Street in Paton. The female was found to be safe.
A deputy checked an abandoned vehicle parked along the roadway on W Avenue near 220th Street.
A deputy was out of position and unable to locate a reported erratic driver near the Boone-Greene County line, traveling on Highway 30.
Greene County dispatchers were advised of a pavement blow up or buckling of the roadway on Highway 30 east of Jefferson. The DOT was advised of the road condition.
A deputy while on routine patrol in Scranton, witnessed a vehicle driving in an erratic manner and initiated a traffic stop upon that pickup. After an investigation and Field sobriety testing the deputy subsequently arrested Randy Dean Esslinger 61, of Bayard, for OWI 1 st Offense – Serious Misdemeanor.
In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
