stuart cityThe Stuart Public Library launched their summer reading program.

Director Sandy Pollard says part of the reason for the program is to keep kids learning until the school year starts. “One purpose of summer reading is to keep skills sharp and keep kids reading, so they don’t suffer what experts call ‘the summer slide’, and forget their skills. Sometimes kids forget as much as half of what they learned in the previous year by the time they go back to school in the fall.”

Pollard will tell us more about their summer programming today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
