For the second time this season, PCM (Monroe) defeated Greene County in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball by one run. The Mustangs were 3-2 winners on Monday night in Prairie City after winning 5-4 in Jefferson last month. The loss drops the Rams to 3-8 overall and 1-7 in conference games.

PCM scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings for a 2-0 lead, but the Rams tied the game with two runs in the top of the seventh. Calvin Skalla reached on an error and was moved to second by a sacrifice bunt. Chase Stoline doubled Skalla home for the first Greene County run. The Rams tied the score on a Tom Gannon two out single. The Mustangs won the game in the bottom of the inning with the help of the only two Greene County errors of the game. Two PCM singles led off the inning, and two errors ended it.

Freshman Austin Delp pitched 6-1/3 innings and took the loss. He allowed two earned runs on six hits and a walk. Delp had six strikeouts.

Gannon finished the game with two singles while Tyler Beger, Reid Lamoureux, and Skalla each had one. Stoline’s double was the only Greene County extra base hit.

The Rams are off until Thursday when they host non-conference Bondurant-Farrar on KG98.
