Three severe thunderstorm warnings rolled through parts of Greene and Dallas counties Tuesday evening.
Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team provided live wall-to-wall coverage when the National Weather Service issued the first severe thunderstorm warning at 6:05pm for northeastern Greene County until 6:45pm. We also provided coverage during the second severe thunderstorm warning from 6:17 to 7pm for southern Greene County. The third severe thunderstorm warning was issued for central Dallas County at 7:42pm until 8:30pm.
Greene County Sheriff’s office had deputies in Scranton and Grand Junction. Pea-size hail was reported by a deputy in Scranton where there was also a tree branch down in the 500 block of State Street and a low hanging power line was also reported at the intersection of Highways 30 and 25. A tree branch was also reported to be down in Grand Junction. There were strong winds and heavy downpour of rainfall associated with the storm.
Due to a power failure, KGRA was off the air for part of the Severe Weather Action Team coverage, but we we’re on the air the entire time through our smartphone app.
The six Raccoon Valley Radio staff were in constant contact with Weather Eye and local law enforcement during the severe weather warnings.
As always, you can count on the Raccoon Valley Radio Network’s Severe Weather Action Team anytime severe weather effects Greene, Guthrie or Dallas counties.
