It was less than three innings of high school softball, but Greene County High School head coach Tom Kennedy saw quite a few positives from the rain shortened contest vs. Class 4A number one ranked ADM in Jefferson on Tuesday night. The Rams led 1-0 with two outs in the bottom of the third when the weather moved in and the contest was cancelled and won’t be made up.
“I think it was all good for us as far as we had pitched the ball well and gained some confidence there. We made some really nice plays defensively, so we’re starting to come around there, and I just think it shows them (the players) that for certain times we can play that well and shows them the potential we have. Now, we have to learn to finish all seven innings, but when you do it against a team like that and a pitcher (Molly Jacobsen) like that, it’s got to help morale.”
Next up for the softball Rams is a Friday night trip to Collins to face CMB, one of the top teams in the league. The Raiders scored three runs in the top of the seventh to nip the Rams 5-4 in Jefferson in the first week of the season.
