The Perry Community School District’s elementary parking lot paving project has been selected for one of the Iowa Concrete Paving Association’s top awards.
Representatives from Shive-Hattery Inc. presented the Parking Lot Paving Award to Board President Kyle Baxter at Monday’s meeting.
Superintendent Lynn Ubben says she found out about the award recently and it’s more great news for Perry.
“It is a great project and certainly was well needed. It’s great for the buses getting in and out of the back, there’s not the congestion that there was in the front. It just took a little getting used to this year. I have to tell you, I didn’t hear really anything negative. The only thing I heard from parents was that they just have to get used to the two lanes and that type of thing but they definitely enjoyed the fact that it wasn’t so congested and just seems a lot safer for everyone.”
Ubben says crews will be finishing up the project this summer with work on the entry ways from the streets and some parking spaces.
