Two Perry organizations recently announced their Teachers of the Year.
Superintendent Lynn Ubben says the Perry chapter of Rotary International named special education teacher Kris Finn their top educator.
“Kris gives a lot to her kids. You know, as a special education teacher it’s not obviously just academics there are a great deal of life lessons and life skills involved too and so you need to be pretty dedicated and passionate to be in special education.”
Additionally, social studies teacher Carla Wood has been named the Masonic Educator of the Year. Ubben says she’s known for being a go-getter.
“She’s one that every once in a while gets (invited to) a national conference and will attend. She likes to do professional development and she likes to travel to help her own curriculum.”
Ubben says there are a lot of good things happening and good people in the Perry school community.
