Greene County lost twice on Saturday at the Perry baseball tournament to drop to 3-12 on the season. Coach Mark Sawhill’s team has now lost six games in a row. Greene County fell in six innings by the 10-run rule in game one vs. Perry by a 13-3 final. In the consolation game, Sergeant Bluff-Luton was a 9-4 winner over the Rams.
Game one saw sophomore Wade Adcock take the pitching loss. The Blue Jays scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the contest early The Rams had just two hits vs. the Blue Jays, both singles. Seniors Reid Lamoureux and Mac Adamson had the safeties. Junior Chase Stoline had a bases loaded walk for a run batted in and junior Calvin Skalla had a SAC fly for an RBI.
Sophomore Ben Bravard made his pitching debut on the varsity vs. SB-L and took the loss. He went the first four innings in his varsity pitching debut and gave up all nine runs on nine walks and just two hits. Skalla pitched two-thirds of an inning and Stoline threw 1-1/3 innings as both made their varsity pitching debuts. Greene County had only three hits in this game with singles by Tom Gannon, Austin Delp, and Logan Kohl. The latter knocked in two runs with a single in the seventh inning in what was his first varsity at bat. Logan Lansman did not have a hit, but did drive in a run.
Greene County plays South Hamilton (Jewell) on Monday at Allensworth Field in Jefferson on KG98. Air time is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. with first pitch around 7:30 p.m.
