Greene County residents are asked to fill out a housing assessment survey to help determine the level of housing needs in the county.
Economic Development Director Ken Paxton says the survey takes about two minutes to complete online. The survey will help determine the kinds of housing needs such as permanent, rental and apartment-style housing. He describes the next steps after they get the survey results.
“Once the survey is completed, we’ll close that site and we’ll begin tabulating the results. We could have a sample size as big as a couple thousand people. It’s going to be a large return, which allows us to do what I call ‘cross tabs’, which let’s us look at the data in detail and in smaller segments.”
Even though there is housing available, Paxton believes it’s the rental properties that may need a boost to get people to live in Greene County.
“The rental properties seem to be really, really in short supply. Got a lot of problems out at the casino and some of our other major employers. The goal is to try and help them out and provide the kind of housing that there is a demand for in our community.”
The request for the survey came after an initial meeting held in April about putting together an incentive package to get housing developers to build in the county. Click the link below to take the survey. The deadline for all surveys to be submitted is by the end of this week.
