GC Public HealthAs we’ve reported Guthrie County Public Health is shopping around for used cars to let employees use during the workday, as a method of cutting down on mileage reimbursement.

Director Jotham Arber was hoping to find a good deal at the Iowa Department of Transportation’s vehicle auction in Ames this month. “I went to that auction on June 11th, but everything was pretty worn out. Everything had over 200,000 miles on it.”

Arber says he found a good deal on a couple of 2006 Nissan Altimas at E&A Motors of Waterloo, but would like to also work with a more local dealership. “I want to get some other dealerships around the area, and show them E&A’s deal, and see if they can match that deal or negotiate a better deal.”

Arber’s hoping to purchase one or two vehicles before the beginning of next fiscal year, on July 1st.
