The Perry Jayette softball team needed only 41 minutes to bury Carroll 12-0 in 3 innings of Raccoon River Conference softball last night. Perry scored 12 runs off ten hits. Johanna Diw set the tone early when she launced a solo homerun to start the game. Perry scored 4 more times in the first inning with RBI’s from Rachel Kinney, Maddy Jans, Maddie West and Brooke Huntington. The Jayettes scored four more times in the second inning thanks in large part to Alyssa Kruger’s 2-run home run. Perry ended the game early with a two out rally in the top of the third inning. Sidney Vancil started the rally with a base hit, followed by a walk to Kruger. Kinney knocked in her second run of the night with a base hit and Olejniczak ripped a two-run single to give Perry a 12-0 lead.
Vancil finished 3-3 with 3 runs and 3 stolen bases while Kruger scored 3 runs and knocked in 2. Kinney scored 3 runs and finished with 2 RBI’s and 2 stolen bases. Olejniczak went 2-3 with 2 RBI as well.
Olejniczak earned the win in a short night inside the pitching circle. She faced 11 batters and struck out 5.
Perry improves to 15-9 on the season and will travel to Boone tonight. Shawn Kenney will have the play by play on KDLS beginning at 7:15.
