A City of Perry employee was recognized for his many years of service to the community this week.

Perry Rotary Club President Quinn Adair presented Volunteer Fire Department Chief Chris Hinds with the Civil Servant of the Year Award at Monday’s City Council meeting.

City Administrator Sven Peterson says it is well deserved.

“From the City side, we definitely appreciate Chris and all that he’s done for the department and the city as a whole.  He’s been an excellent leader for the department and we hope to have him around for quite a while longer.”

Hinds has served as the department’s chief since 2006.
