The ADM Lady Tiger softball team took to the road for a non conference match up last night in search of their 8th consecutive win after sweeping their weekend tournament while taking the first three games during the week.
Last night’s match up posted two top 10 class 4A squads against each other as the 9th ranked Lady Warriors welcomed in the 3rd ranked ADM Lady Tigers. The action would get kicked off in the third inning as ADM would not only enter the hit column but the run column as well from the very first batter in the inning as Montana Popp belted her sixth home run of the season to dead center field for the 1-0 lead. Later in that half inning Molly Jacobsen would add to that lead with an RBI double to score Gabbie Glenn for the 2-0 lead.
The action would quite down from there however as in less than a 45 minute time span these two squads would complete four quick innings of work. All that was in despite of three two out bases loaded opportunities for the Lady Tigers who would leave 9 runners on base through the final four innings.
With Jacobsen’s fifth 1-2-3 inning in the 7th she would send the Tigers home the victor by the final score of 2-0. Jacobsen would walk away the winning pitcher with no runs allowed, just four hits, walking none, with 11+ strikeouts for the game. The loss would be accredited to Norwalk’s Alex Witt who would end the night with a couple walks, three hits, and two earned runs.
With the loss the Lady Warriors now fall to 13-11 while the Tigers will improve to 25-3 with the win. The Tigers will make it a short road trip as they are back in the friendly confines of Tiger stadium tonight to take on another non conference opponent in Knoxville. ADM will look to remain perfect on the week when they square off in a 7:30 pm match up against Knoxville tonight.
